Poems

Locks and Kisses

By: Elaine Alisin

Why did you let him?

I was too in love with him

That my reasoning was clouded too

Why did you let him?

The next thing I felt is the sweet kiss of metal in my wrists

I lost count on how many it touched me

Why did you let him?

Believe me, I never wanted it

I was overpowered

Brought to my knees like a slave

Why did you let him?

Please do not judge me

You know already and soon others will too

This poem is about women raped during the Spaniards era written by one of the students
